Abraham Emans

Abraham Emans
was born about 1670 and died before March 1756. He was a
school teacher and cordwainer (shoemaker) by trade. He married
first Rebecca Stillwell, daughter of Nicholas Stillwell, Jr.
and Catherine Huberts Van Kuren. They were married October 20,
1693 in Gravesend. Their children were: Abraham,John,
Nicholas, Isaac, and Catherine (Katryna). Rebecca was born in
1675 and baptized on July 14, 1678 in Brooklyn and died in
1702. Abraham married Gretie (Margaret) Willemsen, a widow, on
August 17, 1702 in Gravesend. Gretie was the daughter of
William Willemsen and Mayken Wyckoff. She was born April 12,
1685 in Gravesend and died sometime after 1731. Together their
children were: Joseph, Jacob, Cornelius, Benjamin, Daniel, and
Maria. Their children were born from 1702 to sometime after
1713. Daniel and Maria were baptized in Freehold, New Jersey.
Daniel was baptized on April 11, 1714 and Maria on January 20,
1707.
In the 1698
census Abraham listed that he owned 205 acres.
His son Abraham
married Annatie Luyster. His daughter Catherine (Katryna)
married Abraham Bidull, Cornelius married Cornelia Holsaert,
Benjamin married Rachel Fenton, and Danile married Aelje
Hulsaert.
