The Supplement to the book The Jamesons In America by E.O. Jameson, published in 1901 contains a genealogy of a Jamison family that may or may not prove to be the ancestors of our John Jamison. What intrigued me about this Jamison family is that Samuel Jamison married a Catharine Cowden (see page 500 below). I find it interesting that John Jamison named one of his sons John Cowden. Another similarity comes with the statement that the John Jamison of the book "removed, 1792, to South Carolina" (see page 501). The author, E.O. Jameson, claims though that this John Jamison had only one child, a William Caldwell Jamison (see page 504). Of course, this doesn't exclude the possibility that E.O. did not know who all the children were. Also interesting are the siblings of John Jamison mentioned in the book. His brothers were named James, Adam, Samuel, William, and Joseph. These are the same names that pop up repeatedly in our Jamison genealogy. |
