William Jamison was born on 6 February 1799 at Cabarrus Co, NC.1 He was the son of Samuel Jamison and Elizabeth Brown.2 Around 1822 William emigrated to Tennessee, and after living there a year he moved to Lincoln County, Missouri.3 William Jamison married Susanna Steele, daughter of Robert C. Steele and Elizabeth Wilson, circa 1825.1,4 William Jamison appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Lincoln Co, MO, with a household listed as one male between 5 and 10 (probably son Alfred Montgomery even though according to his birth he should be listed in the under 5 catagory), one female under 5 (probably daughter Eveline Elizabeth), and one between 20 and 29 (his wife Susanna Steele).5
Susanna died 24 Aug 1841.1 William Jamison married Elizabeth Diggs on 27 February 1845 at Lincoln Co, MO.6,7
William Jamison and Elizabeth Diggs appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of District 49, Lincoln Co, MO, enumerated 9 October 1850. Their son John Frank was listed as living with them as were William's children Samuel Washington, Susan Melvina, William David, Mary Alcinda and Harriet E. from his first marriage.8 In the 1860 Federal Census for Hurricane Township, Lincoln Co, MO, William Jamison and Elizabeth along with William's daughters, Susan and Harriet, from his first marriage are listed as living in dwelling 1439. In the very next dwelling, 1440, are sons William David (age 22), John (age 10), Albro (age 3), Thomas Taylor (age 5) and daughter Ellen (age 7). Also living with them are their two cousins Samuel Louis (age 10) and William (age 16), sons of John H. Jamison who had died in 1857.9,10 William Jamison and Elizabeth Diggs appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Hurricane township, Lincoln Co, MO, enumerated 22 August 1870, reporting the family owned real estate valued at $5000 and personal property valued at $1500. Living with them was Melvina, daughter of William and his 1st wife, Susanna Steele. Also living with them were Taylor, age 15; Albro, age 12; Edward E., age 8; Samuel L., age 22; and Malissa, age 19. I have tentatively listed them as children of Elizabeth but have no confirmation on this.11 William Jamison appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Hurricane township, Lincoln Co, MO, enumerated 12 June 1880, in the household of his daughter Susan and son-in-law James H. McGee. Elizabeth is not living with them and the box "widowed, divorced" is checked for William. As Elizabeth did not die until 1889 (according to some sources), they must have divorced some time between 1870 and 1880. Also living in this household is Edward E. Jamison. He is listed as a nephew to James McGee, as opposed to a brother-in-law, which is what he would be if he was indeed the son of William and Elizabeth Diggs. Also, Edward's father is listed as being born in MO and William was born in NC. Is Edward actually the son of one of William's sons?.12 William died on 10 July 1880 at Lincoln Co, MO, at age 81.4,13 In the estate papers filed for William on July 26, 1880 at Troy, Missouri, the following are listed as heirs: Albro M., Thomas T., Edward E., William D. Jamison, Alfred M. Jamison, Evaline E. McCormick (and husband John), Mary A. Henton (and husband Benjamin), Susan M. McGee (and husband James H.) and Harriet E. Jamison.6

Alfred Montgomery Jamison married Sarah Ann McCoy, daughter of James McCoy and Emily J. Hopwood, on 1 April 1858 at CA.2,3 Alfred Montgomery Jamison and Sarah Ann McCoy appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Vacaville township, Solano Co, CA, enumerated 16 July 1860, reporting the family owned real estate valued at $8000 and personal property valued at $5000. Their daughter Alice Martha was listed as living with them, as was a laborer, Richard Rouse, age 31.5 Alfred Montgomery Jamison and Sarah Ann McCoy appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Suisun township, Solano Co, CA, enumerated 21 June 1870, reporting Alfred was a farmer and owned real estate valued at $10,000. Their children Alice Martha, Susan E., Clara Adele, William J. and Nettie were listed as living with them.6 In 1871 Alfred, Sarah Ann and family moved from California to Missouri. They returned to California in 1878.3 Alfred Montgomery Jamison and Sarah Ann McCoy appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Denverton township, Solano Co, CA, enumerated 19 June 1880, reporting that Alfred was a farmer. Their children Alice Martha, Susan E., Clara Adele, William J., Nettie, Frank Edgar and Dollie Lane were listed as living with them.7 In 1881 the family moved to Texas and settled in Brady City, McCulloch County where Alfred Jr. and Elsie were born. By the time of Ralph's birth in 1888, they were back in CA. Prior to the 1900 census they had moved to Whitman Co, WA.3 Alfred Montgomery Jamison and Sarah Ann McCoy appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lone Pine, Whitman Co, WA, enumerated 19 June 1900, reporting that Alfred was a farmer and that he and Sarah were the parents of 10 children, 6 of whom were still living. Their children Elsie Irene, Ralph Melvin and Susan E. were listed as living with them, as were Susan's three daughters, Sarah Estelle, Olive Mary, and Maud, from her marriage to James Winchester Foster.8 On 30 Sep 1900, Alfred and Sarah Ann and their two youngest children, Elsie and Ralph, left Tekoa, Washington for Oregon. This was reported in the Journal of their daughter Susie Jamison Foster.3 On 24 May 1902, Alfred bought from his sons, Frank and William Jamison, land in Grant County, Oregon (probably 160 acres) for $500 and assumed a mortgage of $800. On 12 Jun 1902, Alfred and Sarah Ann "of Dayville, Oregon", sold the above property to C.E. Glaze for $800 and Glaze assumed the same mortgage of $800. By August the family was back in Washington state, as they bought a lot in Tekoa from Martha J. Murphy on 28 Aug 1902 for $400 in gold coins and assumed a mortgage of $800. On 13 May 1904, after the death of Sarah Ann, there is record of a homestead purchase of 160 acres of land in Grant County, Oregon obtained by Alfred, with the assumption that he and son Ralph were planning to farm that area. Finially, on 5 Mar 1906, there was an account of a quit claim deed from F.J. and Mayme H. Mahoney to Alfred M. Jamison, concerning 4 lots in Tekoa for which he paid $100.3 Alfred Montgomery Jamison appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Tekoa, Whitman Co, WA, enumerated 20 May 1910, living with his daughter Elsie and her husband, Thomas Wilks.9 At some point after the 1910 census, Alfred moved to Sonora Co, CA to be with his daughter Clara Davis.3

Samuel Washington Jamison was born circa 1830.2 He was the son of William Jamison and Susanna Steele.1 Samuel Washington Jamison died on 15 July 1852 at Snake River Valley, ID; on the trail to Oregon.3 The following is taken from the Diaries of Henry Clay Huston: S. Washington Jamison, age 23+, along with others, joined the party somewhere along the Missouri River prior to May 7, 1852. "On the 13th we passed Soda Springs. Through Bear River Valley we found crickets, grasshoppers and mosquitoes in abundance. On the 15th of July we passed into the Snake River Valley. On that night S.W. Jamison died and the next morning we buried and left his body to moulder in as lovely and desolate a region as can well be imagined. He died before we reached Fort Hall (Caribou County, Idaho)."3

William J. Jamison was born on 5 November 1865 at Vacaville, Solano Co, CA.1 He was the son of Alfred Montgomery Jamison and Sarah Ann McCoy.1 In 1912 William purchased a homestead of 160 acres, apparently in the Klamath County, Oregon area. On the same date as this homestead was entered into the records of the land office at Lakeview, Oregon, a claim for 120.38 acres in the same area was entered for Franklin C. Jamison. Although William's brother Frank's middle initial was E., we believe this to be the same person.2 William J. Jamison married Mabel Elizabeth Stephenson circa 1914.3 In 1923, there is record of William purchasing property of Frank and Grace Jamison for the outstanding debt of $1034.33 at a sheriff's sale in Klamath County after four years had elapsed since a judgement had been placed on the property, for unpaid taxes. This was apparently the same property which he had assigned to the Court in Mississippi. According to legal papers in Mississippi Courts, in September 1921, W.J. Jamison assigned his interest in 2480 acres more or less in Perry County, Mississippi, plus his interest in the above mentioned property in Oregon, to the Rankin County Bank in Mississippi. Beside the land, he gave up his interest in all cotton, cotton seed, corn, oats, and all other agricultural products. The property in Klamath County, Oregon consisted of 320 acres more or less, plus he signed over property in Crook County, Oregon of 960 acres more or less, and property in Lake County, Oregon of 160 acres more or less. It seems that the debt to the Rankin County Band consisted of: a note for $4063.92, a note for $430.10, a note for $282.70, and a note for $50.00, with interest at 8% per annum from date of inception until paid. It must have been after these problems that William returned to Oregon. His nephew, Ralph Jamison Jr., remembers his Uncle Bill as having raised cattle for most of his life in Oregon.2
William J. Jamison and Mabel Elizabeth Stephenson appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Derby, Jackson Co, OR, enumerated 10 April 1930, reporting the family owed their home worth $600. Their daughter Helen May was listed as living with them.3 William J. Jamison died on 12 July 1955 at Grants Pass, Josephine Co, OR, at age 89.2 He was buried on 15 July 1955 at Central Point, Jackson Co, OR.2
