John Jamison was born in 1744.1,2 He married Nancy (?). John and his family came to Missouri from North Carolina in 1820.2 John Jamison died on 7 September 1824.1,2

Family history states that John and his family was originally from Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Indeed, in the 1810 & 1820 Federal Censuses for this county we find a couple different Jamison families (see 1810 Federal Census Records and 1820 Federal Census Records links at the top of this page). In the Ancestry.com online database "North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868", we find the following Jamison marriages for Cabarrus County:

Groom: Samuel Jamison
Bride: Elizabeth Brown
Bond Date: 23 Dec 1795

Groom: John Andrew
Bride: Elizabeth Jamison
Bond/Marriage Date: 19 Jan 1803

Groom: Samuel Brown
Bride: Nancy Jamison
Bond/Marriage Date: 26 Jan 1809

We know from page 160 of the book "Bellevue, Beautiful View: The History of the Bellevue Valley, and Surrounding Area" published in 1983 by the Bellevue Valley Historical Society, that "Nancy, wife of S. Brown, born Jan 31, 1795, died July 10, 1852" is buried in the Jamison Cemetery which is located in Calumet township, Pike Co, MO. I believe this to be the Nancy Jamison listed above.

From this information, I have placed the above Nancy and Elizabeth Jamison, as well as Samuel Jamison as children of John and Nancy. I also believe that there is a good possibility that the above Samuel is this Samuel Jamison.

Determining the origins of this family has not been easy. While I have not exhausted all avenues and plan to spend more time reviewing old documents, I have found an old printed genealogy on the Jameson family that might, some day, prove to contain the ancestry of our Jamison line.
