Gillilan appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, enumerated 9 June 1870. Their children Charles H., Lydia, Augustus H., Orpha Jane, Marcus Manley, William C., Sherman and Sheridan were listed as living with them, as was a four year old unidentified daughter.4 Mary L. Heaton and Nathan C. Gillilan appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, enumerated 1 June 1880. Gillilan appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, in the household of his parents, Nathan C. Gillilan and Mary L. Heaton.3 Charles H. Gillilan appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, in the household of his parents, Nathan C. Gillilan and Mary L. Heaton.4 Charles H. Gillilan married Elmina Lucinda Minehart on 16 September 1878 at Central City, Linn County, Iowa.5,6 Charles H. Gillilan and Elmina Lucinda Minehart appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, enumerated 1 June 1880.7 Charles H. Gillilan and Elmina Lucinda Minehart appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa, enumerated 1 June 1900. Their children Stella O., Elva O., Charles Harrison and Lilah A. were listed as living with them.8 Elmina died on 14 October 1900.

Gillilan and Hattie ? appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, enumerated 30 April 1930.11 Also living with them was Charles' step-son, 27 year old Homer Sceals.11 Charles H.      Charles Harrison Gillilan was born on 28 December 1891 at Iowa.2,1 He was the son of Charles H. Gillilan and Elmina Lucinda Minehart.1 Charles Harrison Gillilan appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Maine township, Linn County, Iowa in the household of his parents, Charles H. Gillilan and Elmina Lucinda Minehart.1 Charles Harrison Gillilan married Ida M. ?3 Charles Harrison Gillilan and Ida M. ? appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Oakland, Alameda County, California, enumerated 8 January 1920.3 Charles Harrison Gillilan and Ida M. ? appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Vallejo, Solano County, California, enumerated 7 April 1930. In 1951, Charles was a Rear Admiral and the commanding officer of the U.S. Naval Supply depot in Clearfield, Davis County, Utah.6 On October 3, 1956, a prejury indictment was returned by a federal grand jury against Charles, who was living in Long Beach, California at the time. The indictment charged that he lied to Navy investigators questioning him about purchases of flavoring extracts and a beverage base.7 He was convicted in 1959 of conspiring to sell $500,000 worth of soft drink flavoring to the Brooklyn Naval Supply Depot between January 1954 and May 1955 but a U.S. Court of Appeals in New York reversed that decision on April 5, 1961.8
