Gilliland appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Clear Creek, Johnson County, Iowa, in the household of his mother Sarah White.3 Andrew F. Gilliland appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Jackson township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, enumerated 6 June 1870, living in the household of his sister and brother-in-law, Marietta and Thomas Brown.4 He married Margaret Eliza Bernard on 4 January 1871 at Montezuma, Poweshiek County, Iowa.5 Andrew F.
