Mark Gilliland, about 60, for the past several months the day tour policeman at Superior, died Saturday night, the victim of a heart attack suffered while at the wheel of his car on the way to their home in Superior.

Mr. Gilliland had been summoned to a Superior hotel about an hour previous to apprehend a couple of trouble-makers and it is believed that the physical exertion which became necessary in lodging the two in the city jail probably precipitated the fatal attack. It was while returning to his home following this incident at about 7 p.m. that death occurred. The car eased to the curbing and stopped when it ran into a parked car belonging to F.A. Lyman in front of the Lyman home at 531 Commercial.

Mr. Gilliland was well known in and about Superior, having lived there most of his life. He was caretaker at the Superior cemetery for many years before the heart ailment necessitated his retirement.
