Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for William Henry Gilliland, who died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mace Warrick. Services were held at Bendorf Funeral Home, Rev Joel Kemmerer officiating, with interment at the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Gilliland is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mace Warrick (Claire) and Mrs. Dale Longer (Lilly) both of Blair; granddaughter, Beverly Gustier of Blair and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gilliland was born March 15, 1876, at Soldier, Iowa. August 19, 1903, he married Lenora A. Rose who preceded him in death.

He was a Mason prior to retiring.

Pallbearers were nephews; Raymond Noyes, Fred, George, and Albert Gilliland, Zeke Halstead and Roy Kirk.2

     Mildred E. Tooley was born on 18 October 1912 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.1,2 She married Oliver Ellsworth Gilliland, son of Alexander C. Gilliland and Julia Ethel Heron, on 19 October 1935.1,2 Mildred E. Tooley and Oliver Ellsworth Gilliland appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana, enumerated 23 April 1940. Their daughter Mildred K. was listed as living with them.1 Mildred E. Tooley died on 1 June 2002 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana, at age 89.2 She was buried at Moravian Cemetery, Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.2

The following obituary appeared in a local newspaper:

HOPE -- Mildred E. Gilliland, 89, of Hope, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Miller's Merry Manor.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home with Randy Feldman officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

Born Oct. 18, 1912, in Hope, Mrs. Gilliland was the daughter of Walter and Louellen Wolf Tooley. She married O.E. Gilliland on Oct. 19, 1935. He died May 6, 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Mildred C. Harden of Columbus; a son, Oliver E. Gilliland of Manassas, Va; grandchildren, Connie C. Kessler and Mike D. Harden, both of Hope, Debbi L. Leatherman of Manassas and Sandie Perry of West Covina, Calif; 13 great–grandchildren; and one great–great–grandchild.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Fred, Gary and John Tooley, and sisters, Ethel McKee, Margaret Holloway, Carrie Harry and Mary Rust.2
