Their children Isabella and Carey/Cara were listed as living with them.12 Josiah Gilliland died on 25 August 1851 at Chatham County, North Carolina.13 He was buried at Bray Cemetery, Chatham County, North Carolina.13 Find-a-Grave has a listing for a William Gilliland, born 16 Aug 1813, Chatham County, died 23 Dec 1886, Randolph County, North Carolina who married Martha Craven. Gilliland and Alsia ?1 James Orren Gilliland married Nancy Bray on 12 January 1854 at Chatham County, North Carolina.2,4 James Orren Gilliland and Nancy Bray appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Chatham County, North Carolina, enumerated 4 June 1860. Their children Martha Ann, Hulda Jane and Sarah Frances (Fannie) were listed as living with them.2 On March 1, 1863, James enlisted as a private in Company E, 26th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry. His Civil War Service Record shows that sometime prior to October 30, 1863, he was taken prisoner of war. The muster roll for November-December 1864, shows that he died as a prisoner of war.5

James Orren Gilliland died before November 1864 as a prisoner of war in the Civil War.6,5 His brother Joseph was made administrator of his estate.7
