Plagiarism
I've read quite a few complaints from others about people who collect family trees, and post the data they find unedited and unchanged. I hadn't really worried about it until I was prowling around the WorldConnect site last week and found one site that had republished my notes (and thus the results of my own research) without even asking permission. Worst was that they hadn't even credited me as the source of those notes. Of course, the positive side is that if the data is found to be in error, I won't be identified as the one to blame, either.

Hey, Elsi,
Nice blog. This is a subject after my own heart. I don't know if you remember the college professor who duped my out of my GED.com and proceeded to add it to his World Connect file where there was absolutely no connection between our families. It seems he then apparently made up a connection way back when and my file is appearing everywhere on World Connect with a false family of my ancestor. No mention of me. I know you were tongue in cheek when you said you won't be blamed for the errors but my objection is that I can't get any new information or corrections to my records. Very discouraging.
I guess I'll have to set up one of these things (blog) because it's nice to get things off your chest.
