| Obituary* | an unknown newspaper, "The death of Kenneth Forbes Ellis very well known and highly regarded citizen of Summerside, occurred at his home here on Saturday evening. The late Mr. Ellis, who was 82 years of age, was born in Summerside , son of the late Captain John and Mrs. Ellis. At an early age he went with his parents to Liverpool, Eng., and attended school there. Capt. Ellis was deep-sea captain and for many years sailed between British ports in the East India trade, later removing with his family to Summerside. On coming to Prince Edward Island Mr. Kenneth Ellis attended a private school in Charlottetown, at that time conducted by Rev. Hodgson. When he left school Mr. Ellis entered the mercantile establishment of Weeks & Beer, as a salesman. After some time in that employ, he left to go to sea, and spent several years as an officer in sailing ships, visiting many ports of the world. Following this, he entered the employ of Sinclair & Stewart, Summerside, and later was for a short time in business with the late W. K. McGougan. Later, he was a salesman with R. T. Holman, Ltd. Mr. Ellis will be remembered by his friends as much travelled, a voracious reader, with a wonderfully retentive memory and a genial companion. He was a charming and entertaining conversationalist, a factor which contributed much toward making him very popular with customers during his days as a salesman, and was at all times a gentleman. He is survived by his widow, one son, Reginald E. Ellis of Summerside, and five daughters, Miss Lorna, RN., at home; Mrs. B. Graham Rogers and Mrs. H. M. Baker in Summerside; Mrs. Chester Haen of Rhinback , NY., at present at home; and Miss. Myra Ellis of Morristown NJ., also two sisters, Mrs. Netus Stanlake and Mrs. R. L. Romcke to all of whom much sympathy is extended. At the funeral, which was held Monday afternoon, Rev. Walter McCleary conducted the services at the house and at the grave.
