Cemeteries of Colorado
A Guide to Locating Colorado Burial Sites
and Publications about Their Residents
by Donald R. Elliott
Book & CD-ROM first published in December 2005
A publication with over 3,100 records (includes aka names, but approximately 2,000 different sites) to the burial sites in Colorado. The author has surveyed hundreds of books and periodicals in an effort to find the known cemeteries and burial sites in Colorado. This is over 1,000 more records than is contained in the Colorado Cemetery Directory by Kay R. Merrill, 1985, and over 300 more burial sites than in the Directory. Included in this publication is the name of each burial site found and includes aka names, directions to the sites and location information in the way of section, township and range as well as Geographical Positioning System (GPS) information, when known. Most important is each burial site listing shows the publications in which information was found for that site. The referenced documents also include USGS 7.5 Topographic Map references, when shown. Referenced documents were all found in the Virtual Colorado, Latter Day Saints (LDS) and NSDAR catalogues, P.E.R.S.I. and USGS Topographic Maps. 336 total pages. Both the Book and CD become available for distribution the first week of January, 2006.
Colorado Cemetery Index I
Individuals Interred in Small Colorado Burial Sites
by Donald R. Elliott
Book & CD-ROM first published in December 2005
From the same books, periodicals and Internet sites used for Cemeteries of Colorado, the author has compiled an "index" of persons listed as interred in 977 of the "smaller" burial sites in Colorado. Most of these would be older and smaller sites (under 300 listed burials) where caretakers or sextants would be hardest to find. There are 27,870 names recorded in this publication. This is more than a "standard" index. Included in the publication, for each record, is the individual's name, along with the birth and death dates, when known. Also included is the name of the cemetery in which that individual was listed as being interred, along with the publication where the information was found. The references include a large number of the 275 references books (from Cemeteries of Colorado) and many periodicals. Therefore the researcher can not only find the cemetery of interment, but also the referenced publication where he might seek further information. 480 total pages. Both book and CD become available for distribution the first week of January, 2006.
Elliott New England Database
Elliott Names Found Primarily, or Originating, in New England States
Births Prior to 1850, Marriages Prior to 1875 & Deaths Prior to 1900
by Donald R. Elliott
CD-ROM first published in December 2005
This is a collection of Elliott information collected in the late 1980s, early 1990s. It grew to 15,280 records where a variety of records were entered; information that included Birth, Baptism, Burial, Census, Church, Civic, Death, Divorce, Education, Freeman, Gravestone Inscriptions, Immigration, Intentions, Land, Marriage, Military, Pension, Probate, Moving, Tax, Will and various other findings. Although most of the information was collected from the original New England states, some data was included from the adjoining states, particularly when the migration paths led there. Whenever Elliott information was found, the source was noted so that the originator or others could find the source for supplemental information. Once the database was in place, a secondary database was extracted to show marriages or couples. The first alphabetical listing is that of male Elliotts, by first name, and including the wife. An alphabetical maiden name listing is included.
Added to the collected data was a system of identifying families and descendents from immigrant, or early, ancestors. These number designators allow a search (Find) operation to be conducted and collect all of the members of a family, to the extent the data is in the database. It further allows the researcher to progress upwards and downwards through the ancestral lines. Whereas the original recorded information is subject to little error, other than typos, the family designators, although based on good information is subject to errors in analysis. Never-the-less, the designators should aid the researcher as he analyzes his or her family lines.
Carrier ASW Stories
Memories of the Men Who Served
in the
CVSG-57 Squadrons, HS-2, VS-35 & VS-37
and
VAW & H&MS Detachments
by Donald R. Elliott
Book first published April 2005 & CD-ROM first published in December 2005
There are over 200 stories contained in this "book" that may better be called a published "manuscript." It is printed (copied) on 8 1/2 by 11 and 3-hole punched suitable for insertion into a 3-ring view binder. Having said that, it is a marvelous collection of stories from the men who served aboard the Navy's aircraft carriers in the time from about 1957 through about 1980. These men flew the airplanes, were aboard as technicians or provide ground support for the aircraft and missions. Most are peacetime adventures although there is overlap when on station off South Vietnam. Stories are told about flying, carrier operations, emergencies conditions, maintenance foopahs, rescues at sea, pranks and even liberty events. All story tellers had a connection with the CVSG-57 squadrons of the era, but some reach back to WW II experiences and some go beyond their time in the squadrons.
Try these teasers for starters: The Launch Officer observes the deck and the sea state and only is to launch aircraft when the deck's movement is conducive to a safe launch. However, he was fooled one day and the Plane Commander had to fly through a "wall of water" on a deck launch when the bow of the carrier plowed into a large swell. Then another pilot lost an engine on a night catapult launch, fully loaded, including ordnance. The S2 shouldn't have been able to make it, but the pilot did everything right. A rescue in high winds and heavy seas from a British vessel in the Sea of Japan is told by the helicopter crew. Then a similar one in Zero Zero weather. Then a maintenance man tossed a prop dome oil ring overboard that came back like a Frisbee, and . . . . . . You get the idea.
Included are appendices that show CVS cruise dates and the air groups aboard them and includes important squadron and ship events. Also included is Navy terminology used in the stories to assist non Navy persons to understand the jargon that is sometime used. Over 50 shipmates contributed stories. Their names are listed.

An Every Name Extract from Original County Records
CD-ROM by Donald R. Elliott
Book first published in 2002 & CD-ROM first published in January 2006
Previous efforts of the WPA and other volunteers have produced Colorado marriage records and indexes through 1939. Other Volunteers have since compiled a database of marriages from 1975 to the present which is currently being indexed by others. The prior work has left a gap from 1940 through 1974 where the records have not been published or indexed. Columbine Genealogical & Historical Society, Inc. has extracted and published the marriages of Arapahoe County, Colorado, which includes a comprehensive index of both brides and grooms, for the period 1940 through 1965. The hard cover books, no longer available, were published in 3 volumes. A 4th volume to complete the period from 1940 through 1974 is yet to be completed.

CD-ROM by Donald R. Elliott

There is also a block, lot and grave listing. There is a index of plot owners and nearest relatives.
