Donald R. Elliott was in the first graduating class at Colorado State University (name change from Colorado A & M). He received a BS in General Science and Arts, with minors in Business, Mathematics and History. While a member of Columbine Genealogical & Historical Society, Inc., he participated in the compilation, publication and marketing of Colorado Territory Civil War Volunteer Records, Littleton Colorado Church Records (4 church volumes), Littleton Colorado Cemetery Interment Records, (2 volumes) and Arapahoe County Colorado Marriage Records (3 volumes). As a member of Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies he produced, published and marketed, for them, the Colorado Resource Handbook.
In 1999, Don compiled Place Names of Colorado, giving it to Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies to publish. He was instrumental in its publication and marketing. In 2001 he prepared for publishing, Blecha's Colorado Place Names for the widow of Arvid D. "Mike" Blecha, giving it to Colorado Genealogical Society to publish where he also assisted in the publishing and marketing of the book. Subsequently he prepared CD-ROMs of these two books. In 2005 he completed four cemetery books, Cemeteries of Colorado and Colorado Cemetery Index I, II & III, along with CD-ROMs for each book. Also in 2005 with an 100 additional stories added in 2006 for a total of over 250 stories, a book and CD-ROM was compiled from stories provided by members of his Navy air group, Carrier ASW Stories. Also prepared for publishing in CD-ROM format is the Elliotts' of New England database that he has been building since the mid-1980s. For Columbine Genealogical & Historical Society he has completed a CD-ROM for their Arapahoe County Colorado Marriage Records book, a CD-ROM for Littleton Colorado Cemetery Interment Records book and a CD-ROM of the Pedigree Charts and Surnames Indexes submitted by Society members..
In 2005 Don began doing business as Colorado Research Publications, a sole proprietorship, to produce and market publications for the Colorado genealogical and historical communities.
