Hmmmm, and her real name would be...
She is listed in her husband's probate records, but referred to only as
Widow Mundy. She purchased a bedstead from his estate for $1.00. In the 1840's, she did not have very many rights...including ownership
of her own bed upon the death of her husband.
I have heard that her name is Mary Ann Pfiffer, but have no documentation to prove it. This seems unlikely, for the reason that neither her daughter, or any of her granddaughters that I have found were named Mary Ann. There are a multitude of Mundy girls named Lucinda, including Henry Mundy's only daughter. It is just a guess, but I wonder if her name was Lucinda. The search continues...
Am currently searching for the land record where the
property was either purchased or sold. However, these records are mostly
unindexed, so it involves reading the microfilms page by page...and it
is going rather slowly. Marion County, Indiana tends to list the wife by at
least her first name in most land transactions, so there is hope!!
