Richard (Allie) Saxton 92, of Custer died unexpectedly Thursday
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O.G. Blocher of Ypsilanti.
He was born June 26, 1875, in Ohio. Following his marriage to Laura
Brovont on July 4, 1895, he moved to Eden Township where be resided until
the past three years when he made his home with his children.
Mr. Saxton was a self-employed carpenter and specialized in barn
construction. His wife preceded him in death in 1961 and a son Richard
died in 1966.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Kay) Nordan of Cincinnati,
Ohio, Mrs. O.G. Blocher of Ypsilanti and Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Skow of Scottville;
one son W.D. Saxton of Southfield; two sisters Mrs. John Reinoehl and Mrs.
Mable McKenzie of Custer; two brothers W.C. Saxton of Ludington and Orvan
Saxton of Scottville; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from Stephens Chapel with the
Rev. Harlan Brooks officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in
Custer.
