Laura Mae Brovont's Obit

From Ludington Daily News, 22 April 1961
Services in memory of Mrs. Laura Saxton, wife of R.A. Saxton, were held from Stephens Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Walter M. Young, pastor of the Sugar Ridge Church of the Brethren officiating.
The many floral arrangements spoke of the esteem of the family and also brought a comforting thought as Mrs. Saxton was a great lover of flowers both in her home and in her flower garden.
John Quinn, Bill and Wayne Saxton, Bill Conklin and Holly Wilson, all nephews, and Lawrence Morell, a close friend of the family, served as pallbearers.
The Rev. Mr. Young read several passages of Scripture, bringing a comforting message to his listeners. In closing he read the poem "Eternal Dawn."
Born Laura Brovont in Stark County, Ohio, Dec. 3, 1876, she came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Brovont, to Sunfield when a young child. It was while living at Sunfield that she met R.A. Saxton to whom she was married July 4, 1895. The following September the young couple moved to Eden Township where they have lived since that time.
Mrs. Saxton found her main interests in her home and family where she was a devoted wife,
mother and grandmother. She had been in frail health for the past two years although able to be about the home and assist with the care of the home. Tuesday evening she became ill and was taken to Paulina Stearns Hospital, where she died early Thursday morning.
Besides her widower she is survived by two sons, W.D. Saxton of Detroit and Richard O. Saxton of South Custer; three daughters, Mrs. Galen (Blanche) Blocher of Ypsilanti, Mrs. Harry (Kay) Nordan of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Skow of Custer; three sisters, four brothers, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
