The Democratic Advocate, Greenville, Ohio:
Thursday, January 15, 1914 page 1, col. 7; vol. xxxi no. 38:
Obituary for Mary Martin Snyder: Mary M. Snyder, daughter of
Sebastian and
Catharine Martin, was born in Pennsylvania,
January 29, 1830, and died January 7,
1914, aged 83 years, 11 months and 8 days.
She was united in marriage to Josiah
Coppess, August 5th, 1849.
He died February 4th, 1867. To this union were born
eight children,
one son and seven daughters, three children having preceded her to

the Spirit World, the son and four daughters remain as follows:
Sebastian Coppess,
of Lima, O.; Mrs. Wm. Saxton of Custer, Mich.;
Mrs. Wm. Dancer, of Greenville,
O.; Mrs. Geo. Boze of Hartford, Mich.;
and Elizabeth Coppess, who lived with her
mother.
On September 20, 1894, she was married to James Snyder.
He died June 23,
1898. She was a faithful member of the
German Baptist Church, always attending its
services when able to do so.
Her faithfulness can be judged from the fact, that,

although aged and feeble, she braved the stormy weather on Christmas Day,
that she
might one more worship God in His temple.
Through her sickness she was kind and
patient, bearing her suffering with
Christian fortitude and trusting in an arm which
she knew was able to save.
But her suffering is all over now. God has said "It is
enough, come up higher,
and she is now basking in the sunlight of His love, enjoying
the beauties
and grandeur of Heaven. She was a dear loving mother and
grandmother,
willing to sacrifice, if need be, for the sake of others. There is left to

mourn her death one son, four daughters, thirty grandchildren,
twenty-two great
grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and
a large number of other relatives and
friends.
"Rest sweetly, beloved one, our lonely hearts yearn For your presence and

love, but you may not return; Yet we know by this passionate
longing and pain, Our
parting is brief--we shall meet you again."
