Mrs. John (Nellie) Reinoehl
Mrs. John (Nellie) Reinoehl, 87,of 3084 S. Tuttle Road, Eden
Township, Custer
died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, July 15 at Memorial Medical Center.
Nellie Marie Saxton
was born Oct. 5, 1896 in Eden Township, the daughter of the late
William and
Catherine (Coppess) Saxton. She was a graduate of Scottville
High School and was
married June 30, 1917 to John H. Reinoehl who survives. The
couple
moved to
Detroit in 1918 and returned to farm in Eden Township in 1926.
She was a lifelong
member of the Sugar Ridge Church of the Brethren where she was
chorister for 48
years and a teacher of the youth group for over 20 years. She
enjoyed flower
gardening and sewing. Surviving, in addition to her husband,
are one daughter,
Mrs. Holly (Catherine) Wilson of S. Custer; one son, Dr. John
Reinoehl of East
Lansing; six grandchildren, Dr. Suzanne Wilson and Mary Ellen
Wilson, both of
South Custer; Dr. Jack Reinoehl of Hillsdale; Dr. Bruce Reinoehl
of DeWitt; Paul
Reinoehl of Farmington Hills, and Joel Reinoehl of East Lansing;
one great-
granddaughter, Cathy Anne Reinoehl of DeWitt; nieces and nephews.
She was also
preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Quinn, Mrs.
Minerva
Conklin and
Mrs. Mabel McKenzie Bacon and three brothers, Richard, William
and Orvan
Saxton. --- The funeral for Mrs. Reinoehl will be conducted at
1 p.m. Thursday with
the Rev. Barry Henry officiating. Interment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Custer.
The family will be at the Stephens Funeral Chapel, Scottville
to receive friends from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
JOHN:
Ora Blocher says that John and Nellie brought their farm from
Daniel Brovont
when that family moved back to Indiana in the late 1920's. Ora
stayed with the
Reinoehls in the summer when he was going to the UofM and they
lived in Detroit
before he graduated in 1927. Nellie served codfish real often.

John H. Reinoehl, 91, of 3084 S. Tuttle Road, Eden Township,
Custer, died Monday
afternoon at Memorial Medical Center. John Henry Reinoehl was
born Jan. 9, 1894
in DeKalb County, Indiana. He was married June 30, 1917 to Nellie
Marie Saxton
in Eden Township and she died July 15, 1984. He attended Ferris
Institute and
taught school in Mason County for five years. He moved to Detroit
with his wife in
1918 where he was promotion manager at the Detroit News. He
returned
to Mason
County in 1926 to farm in Eden Township. He was a member of the
Sugar Ridge
Church of the Brethren and was teacher of the Men's Group for
many years.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Holly (Catherine) Wilson of
South Custer; one
son, Dr. John Reinoehl of Bath; six grandchildren, Dr. Suzanne
Wilson and Mary
Ellen Wilson, both of Kalamazoo; Dr. Jack Reinoehl of Hillsdale,
Dr. Bruce
Reinoehl of DeWitt, Paul Reinoehl of Farmington Hills and Joel
Reinoehl of
Lansing; two great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews. The
funeral
for Mr.
Reinoehl will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Stephens
