Duck Hunter Shot by Stray Pellets
A Mason County duck-hunter, Henry Skow, of route 2 Scottville,
received two minor pellet wounds Thursday in an accidental shooting.
Skow, 55, sustained one wound in the neck and one in the forehead when
he was
in the Pere Marquette marsh.
The pellets were fired by an unknown hunter from a distance estimated
at 200 to 300 feet,
according to Mason County Sheriff's Department which received the
report at 12:15 p.m.
Skow was treated at Mason County Memorial Hospital and was
released.

Henry Skow, 91, Ludington, died
unexpectedly Monday, May 22
at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 26, 1914 in Lyons,
Neb., and married Pearl Ester
Saxton
on March 7, 1959, and she survives.
The couple lived most of their lives
in the Scottville area.
Henry graduated from Ludington High
School in 1933.
He was a member of the National Rifle
Club (sic), and he enjoyed
hunting and fishing.
The couple enjoyed wintering in
Kissimmee, Fla.
He was employed at Star Watch Case
Co. for 17 years and
later owned and operated Skow
Landscaping and Nursery for more
than 35 years, retiring in 1994.
In addition to his wife, he is
survived by two daughters, Joyce Carlson
of Cadillac,
and Betty (William) Carnes of Norton
Shores;
two sons, Rodney (Rosemary) Skow of
Adrian, and Ron (Donna) Duggan of
Custer;
one daughter-in-law Rosemary Duggan
of Ludington; 13 grandchildren and
15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Hans and Marie Skow;
his son, Gary Duggan; son-in-law
Merle "Pete" Carlson; grandson,
Richie;
great-granddaughter Pamela Keith, and
one brother, Art Skow.
The funeral is at noon Thursday at
Alexander-Rye Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Kenneth Pastotnik of
Cadillac officiating.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the
time of service.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery
in Custer.
The family would appreciate
contributions to the Pere Marquette Fire
Department,
with envelopes available at the
funeral home.
