Edmund and Eliza Ann Blocher's stone.
EDMOND: Bible shows 'Edmund' as does his Social Security card, Seaman's
certificate and U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Service both of which he signed that
way. A probate court 'Order of Determination of Time and Place of Birth' in 1945
lists 'Edmund'. The marriage license (dated 7 Oct 1898) and certificate of marriage
(dated 8 Oct 1898) both show 'Edmond'.
Farmer at Custer, Mason Co., MI. Raised apples, pears, peaches, gooseberries that
were shipped by ferryboat from Ludington across Lake Michigan to Chicago, IL.
His son, Ora G. Blocher, remembers he had one acre of gooseberries, north of the
house by the orchard, and when ripe would have pickers come in, this was around
1917-18. Sold eggs at Scottville, MI. Had a sorghum mill and evaporator pan and
made and sold sorghum molasses. Still have some of the labels for his sorghum
molasses. Used to go to Ludington at the river and sell.
