Blanche G. (Saxton) Blocher
Died Feb. 25, 1998
Blanche G. (Saxton) Blocher, beloved wife and devoted
mother, 89, of Ypsilanti Township and formerly
of Custer, passed away Wednesday at St. Joseph Mercy
Hospital, Ypsilanti.
Blanche G. Saxton was born Oct. 21, 1908, in Custer,
the daughter of Richard A. (Allie) and
Laura M. (Brovont) Saxton. She was married Oct. 31,
1928, in Bowling Green, Ohio,
to Ora G. Blocher and he survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four children,
Beverly (William) Lawther of Ypsilanti,
Don A. (Betty) Blocher of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert L.
(Barbara) Blocher of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.,
and Eric L. Blocher of Ypsilanti; 10 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kay Nordan
of West Chester, Ohio, and Pearl (Henry) Skow of Custer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers,
William (Danny) Saxton and Richard O. (Dick) Saxton.
Services for Mrs. Blocher will be conducted at 11
a.m. Monday at the Stephens Funeral Home chapel,
Scottville, with the Rev. Merritt Bongard officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Custer.
The family will be at the funeral home to receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial
contributions are asked to consider donations
to the American Heart Association; envelopes are available
at the funeral home.
