Donald Lee Quinn

Donald Lee Quinn died March 16 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington.
He was born October 26, 1914 in Scottville, the son of the late John
and Bessie (nee: Saxton) Quinn.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Verna Quinn of Kalamazoo and
stepchildren
Bonnie (Ron) Nuyen, Dennis Munther and Kim (Robin) Johnson. He has
resided with his
daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Michael McIlrath in Detroit.
He will be missed by
his grandchildren, Michael Quinn McIlrath of Detroit, Maureen (Jeff
Pitoniac) McIlrath Noland
of Dearborn, Sandra (James) Radtke of East Jordan, Tim McIlrath of
Clarkson and
Patrick McIlrath of Detroit. Dearest great-grandpa of Melissa Mosser,
Berlyn Noland,
Ian Pitoniac and Jacqueline, James and John Radtke. Dear brother of
John Junior (Lorraine) Quinn.
Predeceased by his first wife Ruth "Edythe" (nee: Lindgren) and
his son, Donald George;
and brothers, Tim Saxton Quinn, Ernest (Chum) and Mickey Hickey; and
sisters,
Dolly Johnson, Leota Piazza and Marjorie Bottrell.
Mr. Quinn retired from Dow Chemical and during his life volunteered
with National Ski Patrol
and sailed independantly across the Atlantic Ocean from Portugal to
Florida in a 32 foot sailboat.
His sailing experience began as a Sea Scout leader. He was an Eagle
Scout, a lifeguard, an umpire,
a Red Cross volunteer, a City Councilman and a docent at the Kalamazoo
Air Zoo.
Burial will take place in Ludington in August. Arrangements handled by
Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home, Dearborn.
