This is some tid-bit information I have
found. It doesn't pertain specifically to East Haddam. I sure do hope

I've recieved a lot of e-mails asking about
Chatham, CT. Well, after some long searching a cousin in CT. stumbled
across this:

CHATHAM, CT.
was a town up until 1915, when what was left of it became East
Hampton. It was across the river from Middletown and was made up of
parts of East Middletown, Middle Hampton and Westchester ...... or
they came from it. Anyway ...... East Hampton was the end result.
