Comments: Thanks to Dick Harris I found this site for East Haddam, I
am having trouble finding any info on Curtis S. Potter, my grgr.gran.
Phoebe was my gr,gran .Curtis died in her house in 1878.as the oldest
man in E.H. He was born Feb. 10,1792. I have lots of gen and much
hisrory about this section of Ct. Phoebe Arnold Potter was my gr gran
. She had a sister and a brother Curtis. Seems that ther was three
curtis S. Arnold,s in the area and very little about them One is
burried in Haddam Nect I do not know the location of my grgr gran
grave site. Any info would be appreciated. |

Comments: I am a descendant of George Gates, one of the founders of
East Haddam. I have been to East Haddam and seen records in George
Gates's handwriting. I have been trying for 26 years to verify his
antecedents in England but to no avail. None of the other desce dants
I have contacted on the internet can verify his parents. Sources I
used 26 years ago claimed George's parents were Thomas Gates and
Elizabeth Weedon and his grandparents were Peter Gates and Mary
Josselyn, but more recent sources seem to disprove th s. Does anyone
in East Haddam know of any records of George's history in England,
why he came to the U.S. and his relationship to the Olmsteads other
than marrying their daughter? |

Comments: I am searching for information on my father's family. His
father's name was James Russell Williams and he was born an raised in
East Haddam. The family plot is at the Congregational Church, as far
as I can remember my father telling me. His siblings, I believe all
deceased and buried there include: Richard F. Williams; Catherine C.
Williams (d. of TB, not sure when), and Florence M. m. Ted Carlson,
both d. His parents were James Russell Williams and Mary Ethel
Williams. He married Dorothy Higgins and hey had for children; Elaine
Merrill Williams (Chlan), Clark Hayden Williams (my father) and David
Jonathan Williams d. 1970's. Any information available on this family
would be greatly appreciated. |
