Henry
Walker definitely kept a family Bible, and Annie
Walker Burns, in her
1929 book on page 59, transcribed several papers
in the Bible (shown below) but did not transcribe the
family record, if one was included in the Bible. She
did not say who had possession of the Bible at that
time, and its present location, if extant, is unknown.
[Annie Walker Burns, AWB1929, p. 57, transcribes
"different documents found in old Bible owned
by Henry Walker who as a circuit rider minister"]
Tazewell, Tenn, March 9th, 1869
Dear Brother Walker: Can you help raise some
$10.00 in money to buy a horse. I must have one
or leave the work. I am at home now and must stay
here, unless I can get a horse. I cannot borrow.
Other chappel [sic] propose to do their share,
will yours? It must be done or the work will suffer.
I cannot walk all the way around the circuit.
Yours truly, J. H. McGriff.
PS: Please met me if you can at Fords Chapel
on the 25th of this month, at 3 P.M. I want you
to sit as one of the committee to investigate
charges against George Rollins. I will reach there
at eleven o'clock, A.M. of that day.
