Ruth,
Sorry to hear about Georgie Hope this will help her feel better soon, We all
have to share our love and prayers for her fast return to good health. You
might ask her if she remembers my mother Cora (Clark) Smith she was the
daughter of Rufus Walker Clark and Lucy Vilena McGhee. Memories seem to help
cheer up people sometimes. Maybe she knew my grandfather and Grandmother if
she doesn't remember the children of Rufus Clark from Boxley area Rufus'
brother Sam married Gladys Flora Villnes.

Topic: Re:Arbaugh and Black
Hello all...this is Colleen Haynes Rongey here...first time I've had a chance
to visit with all of you...I grew up out at Lurton in the thirties and
forties...and I remember Mr. Ab Arbaugh from Jasper...seems he may have been
a lawyer or something as he signed papers of my parents at times when they
needed a notary...
He always gave me a stick of spearmint gum and he smelled of the breath
freshner sen-sen.
I thought he was a very nice man and when we went to the big town of Jasper,
seems he was always around the court house...(Colleen 1/28/2001)

The above names were in the 1860 Newton county census. In 1970, they had
zapped........and where, I don't know. Marion Decalb Crutchfield m Martha
Cargill, and ended up in Izard county. Isabella Jones, listed as
mother-in-law to my gr-gr-grandfather, James W. Crutchfield.....I cannot find
anywhere. Martha Moten and John Wellaton Moten (age 5 in 1960), I don't
find, until somewhere found he'd married, and I believe he and wife buried in
Newton county.
Sorry to be long-winded, but does anyone have any inkling where else I could
tract down these people who evidently are hiding???

Message From: Patricia Weaver Topic: Re:John F. Bunch Civil War
Lisa, I don't know if John Bunch was related to my family or not, but we had some relatives by the name of Bunch on my grandmothers side and her name was Phoebe Gennetta (Whiteley) Sparks. My uncles middle name was Bunch, after the family name. Nathaniel Bunch Whiteley was her father. My records go back to a Nancy Bunch. Curious to know if any relation there.

Message From: Vonda Dihm Topic: Casey, Flippo, Davis, Simmons
I am new to the list. My name is Vonda Dihm and my game is finding all
descendants of Jesse E. Casey (1797-1863)! I have documented 5000+
descendants so far but I'm sure there are more out there and I'm still
looking! Just a few surnames connected to this line: Beckham, Brasel,
Breedlove, Carlton, Coe, Daniels, Farmer, Henderson, Hudson, Phillips, Self,
Snow, Sparks, Stephens/Stevens - many more.
My grandmother was Sarah Jane Casey (1873-1958) daughter of Levi Newton Casey
(1851-1931) son of Anthony Casey (1826-1910) and Mahala Celia Self. Anthony
was the son of Jesse E. Casey (1797-1863) and Martha "Patsey" Coe. Mahala
Celia Self (1826-1890) was the daughter of Levi Self (1782?-1862) and
Elizabeth Thrash. Sarah Jane Casey married James Monroe Flippo (1867-1934).
James Monroe Flippo was the son of William Haywood Flippo (1838-1919) and
Mary Elizabeth Simmons (1842-1903). William Haywood Flippo was the son of
Solomon Flippo and Abigail Johnson. Mary Elizabeth Simmons was the daughter
of William Monroe Simmons (1824-1907) and Nancy Gilbreath (1824-1902).
Any 'cousins out there I have not heard from already?
Vonda
