Edgmon and Kin Scrapbook

Nancy Percy Edgemon 1803-1873

Nancy Percy was daughter of Thomas and Hannah Percy. Was wife of Thomas K. Edgmon.

Records indicate that Nancy Percy had many hardships in her life. A son was of unsound mind, she lost children to the Civil War, helped raise children of her deceased children, and Thomas was apparently ill for an extended time before his death. And after his death, estate records show that almost all of the belongings of Thomas and Nancy were sold, leaving Nancy with so very little. Thomas and Nancy were buried in a family cemetery on their place in McMinn County, Tennessee. And even after death, she was not allowed to rest, as a highway project prompted the removal of those buried there. Nancy and Thomas are now buried in a cemetery with over 3,000 others, Cedar Grove Cemetery Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee.

The above picture was made forty some years ago, copied from a very pitted tintype. If anyone has a better copy, I beg you to please share.
