Oak Grove was a small community between Mossville and Swain in Newton County, Arkansas. The school was phased out when consolidated schools came into being...there is no longer a community known as Oak Grove. The land where the school was located is now owned by Noah Woods. His wife was Eileen Edgmon, great grand daughter of Philemon Edgmon and Abigail Sparks.
Note the 'wanted poster' on the school building...when my grandma ran the post office at Mossville she
received wanted posters and they were distributed to the stores and schools in the community. Many of the schools were held
in church houses. Come Sunday morning the posters were taken down, and after service were nailed back up. Grandma said that
nailing up posters was a chore that children would fight over...one that they wanted a turn at doing. When grandpa would hear
grandma talking of taking the posters down and nailing them back up he'd say, "Some (people) are like that. They hang their
religion up as they walk out the church house door."
