The Uncle Phil was Philemon Edgmon, 1829-1895 son of Thomas K. Edgemon and Nancy Percy.
Maggie Edgmon was his niece, Margaret Elizabeth Edgmon 1876-1953 daughter of Thomas Edgmon and Martha Boone.
Philemon was living in Newton County, Arkansas when letter was written, Maggie in Meigs County, Tennessee.
Maggie would later become the wife of Josiah H. Merritt.
