
Private Company A 59th Regiment Tennessee Mounted Infantry...also known as Cooke's Regiment Tennessee Infantry.
Joined March 13, 1862 at Morristown, Tennessee. Was present in Company Muster Rolls until May 17, 1863 when captured by the enemy near Vicksburg, Mississippi. Appeared on Roll of Prisoners of War sent from Camp Morton, Indiana to Ft. Delaware, Delaware dated June 22, 1863.
Appeared on Roll of Prisoners of War sent from Ft. Delaware to City Point, Virginia for exchange, in July of 1863. Stated he was captured at Big Black...an engagement near Vicksburg.
Appeared on Roll of Prisoners of War at Point Lookout, Maryland who arrived at Ft. Columbus in New York Harbor, dated September 20, 1863.
Appeared on Roll of Prisoners of War at Point Lookout Maryland, released upon taking the oath of allegiance and joining the U. S. Army February 15, 1864.
Enlisted in U. S. Army February 4, 1864. On enlistment papers he states that he was born in Roane County, Tennessee, was 24 years of age, and by occupation a farmer. His physical description was: blue eyes, sandy hair, sandy complexion and was 6 feet 1 inch tall.
Mustered into the service of the United States Company D 1st Regiment of U. S. Volunteers May 1, 1864 at Norfolk, Virginia.
Served until mustered out at Ft. Levenworth, Kansas on November 27, 1865.
Thomas K. Edgemon was born April 15, 1839 Roane County, Tennessee.
The son of Thomas K. Edgemon and Nancy Percy. Married Martha Boone
August 16, 1860 Meigs County, Tennessee. He died November 18, 1923
Meigs County, Tennessee.
