Huse Edgemon's brother George had lost his wife and was in the process of acquiring another. He came down and discussed the matter with is younger brother. Huse tried his best to dissuade George from the upcoming nuptials, all to no avail.
A few months after the wedding George came to Huse with the woes of his new partnership. As they talked the conversation grew into a heated argument. At last George said it was Huse's fault that he was in that mess. Huse, he said, should have warned him against such a union. At that Huse reached for the thick, hickory brake pole on the wagon and struck George on the head, knocking him to the ground.
Huse would not be accused of that which he had tried to prevent in the
beginning.
