| Comments: | Hi, I've been running through and thoroughly enjoying your Newton County, Arkansas website. Most of it is really great. But, I did wonder if you could correct the spelling of my great great uncle's last name. Pleasant Fowler, the oldest of the thirteen children of Henderson Alonzo and Harriet(Falkner) Fowler, began the Marshall Prairie [now Western Grove] post office in his parents' home just a couple of years after the family moved from Hawfields, Orange County, North Carolina. He was the Colonel of the 14th Arkansas Confederate Infantry. Several hundred of his descendants have lived in Newton and Boone Counties. I think his was about the second or third family selected as "Pioneer Family of the Year" when what was then North Arkansas Community College began that practice. Anyway, the name is FOWLER, but the letters are re-arranged into FLOWER on the website. By the way, I've been indexing the Christian County, Missouri records for twelve years now. You can see a portion of the results on our transcribed records site at: Transcribed Records I mention that just because of the large number of families which came and went between Newton County, Arkansas and Christian County, Missouri. Harp, McCoy, Phillips, Wimmer, Parton, Fowler, Jones, Thompson, Davis, Skaggs and Coker are a few names that come immediately to mind. Thanks for your website. It's a real gift to Newton County researchers. Mabel Phillips, Director Christian County Library 1005 N 4th Ave Ozark, MO 65721 Tel 417 581-2432 Fax 417 581-8855 http://www.mlnc.org/~ccl/ |

| Comments: | Dear Judy, I just had to write and tell you that you have the best web site that I have ever seen. I mean that and I don't think it is because it is about the families that I am researching. Judy Woods sent me the URL and I looked and read everything on the site for two nights straight. I believe that I read that you have a picture of Andrew Jackson Thomas and his wife. I would love to see that picture. I was married to a grandson of William Elbert Smith and Amanda Jane Thomas. I would appreciate some of the early information that you have on the Thomas family. Thank you so much for your site, I know that you have worked very hard compiling all of this and I still believe that it is the very best that I have found. Thank you, Brenda Dodd Smith Reed |

| Comments: | Judy, I can't thank you enough for contacting me. I have spent several hours going through your beautiful Newton Co. AR site. It is fabulous!!!! I had looked for a Newton Co. page quite some time ago - without any luck. So I am very glad to find it. I was especially glad to find Will & Amanda's burial place in Mossville Cemetery. I felt they were probably buried in Newton Co. but did not know for sure. I am going to get some pictures and information together and send them in a few days. It will be on the NOE line - as I haven't done much on the Thomas line. I have some on William Smith's line, but not much. I will also be sending this website to several other family researchers who I know will be interested. I am so excited!! :^) Thanks again - I will stay in touch. Judy Woods Eufaula, OK PS After reading the "wagon train" story , I contacted Nancy. The last line in her story says that some of those family came to Eufaula. Even on the internet - it is a small world. |

| Requested Surname: | Lucia Thomas |
| Comments: | Dear Judy, I checked out the scrapbook and its GREAT!!! I noticed you had that picture of Lucia Ann Thomas on there. You also had her death date as 1923. Where did you get that info from? We were thinking she died earlier than that. When we went to the geneology library in Houston we found three different Lucy Lee's and three different death dates. The lady at the library said we would need to send off for a death certificate. We have not done that yet, though. My grandmother seemed sure she died when she was seven or eight. That would have made her death date about 1914 or 1915. If you know her death date please let me know. I would really appreciate it. Talk to you later! Jackie |

| Comments: | Dear Judy, Thank you so much for the picture of Andrew Jackson Thomas and Martha Spivey Thomas. My father-in-law looked just like Andrew Jackson. You asked me to send what I have on the Thomas line. Well-- all that I have is what I found on your web site. I have been looking for the parents of Jackson Thomas since 1966 when I married his great grandson. We did not have the correct name for his wife and everywhere we looked we hit a brick wall. A year ago I found Andrew Jackson and Martha on the census and started looking for them. Then Judy Woods sent me your URL and I couldn't believe all of the information that was there. I have not been to Mossville Cemetery but my ex-husband had been and evidently he didn't realize that Martha was the wife of Andrew Jackson. I am doing all of this for my children. They are the great grandchildren of William Elbert Smith and Amanda Jane Thomas. We have the family picture that you were talking about. That picture must have been made around 1907 because the baby of the family was born in 1906. His name was Harry Smith and he died in 1976. If you have the time I would appreciate the Thomas information that you have. Thank you for taking time to answer my letters. Brenda Dodd Smith Reed |

| Comments: | Judy, My ancestors as far as I can tell were The Houstons and the McPhersons. I think that they were from Jefferson, Newton Co., Arkansas ( not Clarksville, as I stated earlier). Thomas Jefferson Houston and Mary Elizabeth McPherson were my GGrandparents, and its said that they were from that area. They were married September 5, 1870, in Clarksville, Johnson Co., Arkansas. Im new at this research thing. Thanks again for the new site. Karen Matthes |

| Comments: | Hello! Just happened across the Newton County site and it is great! I am looking for information on the Sparks family from Boxley. My husbands gg grandfather was John Peterson Sparks. I found the cemetery listing of Sarah E. (Russell) Sparks gravesite. My husband has a cousin who told me that her grandmother was buried in Boxley in a grave by itself. I am certain this is who she meant. If you have any information on this family or some idea of how I could find more information I would love to hear from you. We have just recently just started doing the research and do not have a whole lot to go on, so any help you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks! Michelle Sparks |
