| Comments: | I have been researching my family history. My grandfather was K.M. Wallis, son of William Riley Wallis and grandson of Edward and Elizabeth Wallis. I have found conflicting information about Edward's heritage and would like family pages also for Wallis, Morris, O'Daniel. The Potter family is my grandmother's side. Her name was Ertie Vivian Wallis and grew up in the Valley Springs area. I cannot seem to find a lot of information about the Brannum's in particular and only have 2 generations back....my grandmother's father, Leander, and her grandfather Benjamin Potter. I would like family sheets/information for: Potter, Brannum, Wallis, Morris, O'Daniel. Also, it was said that my great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Wallis (wife of Edward) was part Cherokee Indian but I cannot find proof of this. I have traced the O'Daniel line back to NC to the early 1700's and then most likely, Ireland. I am thinking that the Cherokee or other Indian blood must be from the Morris line. You can see in pictures of her and her children that there is definitely Indian blood. My grandfather always talked about his "l/2 Indian grandmother who sat in a rocker on the porch and smoked a pipe"... unfortunately my grandparents, mother and aunt are all now deceased and there is no-one to verify the information I picked up in bits and pieces. Any information you have would be appreciated. YOUR SITE IS TERRIFIC, by the way! What a lot of work! |

| Requested Surname: | Crutchfield |
| Full name, if known, of husband: | James W. Crutchfield |
| Full maiden name, if known, of wife: | Sallie Jones |
| Comments: | My gr-gr-grandparents, Sallie Jones Crutchfield d 1859 and James W. Crutchfield b 1811, d 1860 lived in Prairie Twp., Newton county. The 1860 census lists: Isabella Jones (Sallie's mother, I believe,)Bracken, "Pecall"(which is actually Marion Decalb),Rosana, Rebecca, James A., and Martha Moten and John Wellaton. The last two, I think might be a Martha Crutchfield (maiden name) and her son, John Wellaton Moten. Any information on these individuals would be deeply appreciated. |
