| Name: | Marcia Snow Wilson <wilsnow@goldrush.com> |
| Date: | 2000-06-16 |
| Requested Surname: | Snow, Taylor, Slusher, Self |
| Comments: | Hi Judy, All four of my paternal grandparents and families lived in Newton County between the years of the 1840's until about the 1890's. The surnames are SNOW, TAYLOR, SLUSHER, SELF. I would like the info I have collected to be included on your pages. I collected quite a bit of info when I had the opportunity to visit the Courthouse in Jasper, the Jasper Library, and the Newton County Historical Society. I also use any site I can find on the internet to document my family. I learned about this site thru Freda Carpenter. I have enjoyed the info, stories and photos so much. I use Family Tree Maker 7.0 I will await your e-mail for instructions. I'm not good with the technical stuff. (I'm hoping it is just 'copy and paste' easy)! Thank you, Marcia Snow Wilson wilsnow@goldrush.com |

| Name: | Cheryl Skinner <skinnerc1@ev1.net> |
| Date: | 2000-06-16 |
| Requested Surname: | Clark, Skinner, Lemar |
| Comments: | I am looking for Clark's who may have lived in Newton County circa 1890's. I have very little to go on. My husband's great-grandfather, Stephen Trigg Skinner, was married to a Margaret Lamar and had three sons, Charles, Albert and Wilburn Skinner. They were living in the Madison County/Boston Mountains area until the late 1890's when Stephen passed away. The boys and their mother moved in with relatives in the Jasper area of Newton County. Margaret was said to have died near or in the White River. The youngsters said they moved in with "old man Clark". Were there any older Clark's with orphaned children reported. Or were there any Lamar's in the county during that time frame. It is believed that Lamar was a married name and Margaret's maiden name may have been Clark. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Cheryl Skinner |
