| Comments: | Judy, I have enjoyed your page sooo much, have been able to meet alot of ancestors, whom I had heard the name and have also visited Newton Co. several times, now I can bring it right into my home. They had an awful hard time during the civil war, didn't they. I think I need the help of all Newton Co. my ggrandmother was Margaret Clark b. Feb. 1, 1862. m. Richard Taylor Barnard Mar. 10, 1878 at age 16. I have viewed her listed with the Thomas Clark and Mathilda Jolly family, Thomas & Mathilda were bushwacked in 1863, whom did she live with for 15 years. She has sister Mary S. Clark and Sarah A. Clark who m. Samuel Self and William Self. They would of been enough older to take Margaret in. Nancy Jane Clark m. T.R. Freeman. Do you know how long Nancy McCampbell lived? (She would of been her grandmother) She is listed on 1860 census as 59 yrs old and living with her son Benjamin Clark who died 1863, also. Is there a census report, Bible or any record of Margaret's whereabouts before she married? Do you know of a boarding house with possible a cafe in the bottom either in Harrison or Jasper? That is where she was working before she m. Richard,1898. Do you know who might have owned the cafe. Both her marriage license and 1880 census has her Birth date 1862. Thank you so much and again, I just about have worn your Newton County pages out. Joy P.S. I have a "Home Page" with familytreemaker that might be of some help to Barnards and Sparks. I think we're cousins somehow. Rueben and Rachel Sparks Barnard were my gggrandparents. My ggrandfather John Henry Whisenant was preacher and J.of P. in Searcy County. Have a small list of marriages he performed if you are interested in them. |
