Surname: Thomas
Comments: I cannot thank you enough for the information
you sent me on Lucy Thomas. My cousin and I are trying so
hard to find information on our family roots. When I read
your reply I got CHILLS. We knew nothing at all but their
names, and to actually find someone that knew something was
a great surprise. If you could, would you scan the pictures
you have of Van Nugget and that child on the stump and the
picture of Andrew and Patsey. A thousand thank you's to you
and if you find any thing else, please send it. I will also
get you some dates of Sam Lee and Lucy's children.

was born about 1889, probably in Newton Co. I think she was
the oldest child. Belle married William Edward Fruen in Scott

Surname: Stroud, Abbey ~ Thomas Harris
Comments: Abbey was married to a Robinson first and had
children. She married Thomas Harris and had only 1 child.

Thomas Jr. was born. He is buried in Mossville Cemetery but
do not know if Abbey is buried there or not. She was living
in Newton Co. several years before dying. The children
remember having to move her back and forth to kids homes, so
she must not have died until at least 1925 etc.

Surname: Prock ~ Elizabeth Rodgers
Comments: I hope I'm not asking for too much with these
requests, but we have three sisters whose married names
appear on your surname list. The second is Elizabeth but
I don't have a name for her husband, she was born in 1847
if that helps, she had three children (we think) Mandy,
Rinday & Joe. The Rodgers family lived in Camden County,
MO up through the 1860 census, Boone County, MO in 1870
and from there who knows. We do know one of the brothers
to Dorinda & Elizabeth married in Conway County, AR in 1880.

Thanks for your help.

From: James Rogers
Surname: Hulstine, Samuel ~ Dorinda Rodgers
Comments: We know that the Rodgers were in Camden County, MO
for several years but not sure if that is where Dorinda married
Samuel. The 1880 census for Newton shows Dorinda a widow?
The family was still in Mo in the 1870 census and in Boone
County, MO, seems they moved around a lot. Dorinda was a
Hulstine in the 1870 census but her Rodgers family were there
also in the same township. If you have any info on Samuel
and/or Dorinda I would be very grateful!

Thanks.

Comments: Charles and Lydia had eight childen before her
death , September 30, 1880 in Americus, Lyon County, Kansas,
along with ohter family members who where on a wagon train
comming back home from Idaho to Newton County, Arkansas.
There should be about five or six all buried in the same
place, I know she and others are buried in a Cemetery some
where. Charles cut off her long dark hair and sold it to a
man who made horse whips out of it, just so he could give her
a proper funeral. Charles Arter Cagle was a Free Will Baptist
Minister, as of Sept. 3, 1871 in Newton County, Arkansas.

I would love to hear from all of you. As a child my daddy,
Errol Haynes, worked for stave mills all over the county and
we lived in tents and old store buildings. I remember living
at Mossville, Fallsville, Moore, Deer (twice) Swain, Richland,
and the postoffices where we got our mail.
Last year I had a letter from a man from Missouri who lived
in Mossville as a child.... He told me of his memory of the
old mill camp there. He said he would never forget the day
when he was about four years old, he and his sister were
playing in the woods and smelled light bread baking...He said
they followed the smell and it came from a tent in the mill
camp. My mother,(he said a pretty black headed lady...
Iva (Woodard) Haynes saw them outside her tent and invited
them inside to have some fresh baked bread with butter and
jelly...Said he would never forget the taste and smell of
that bread. What a blessing to me to hear this story sixty
some years later...

Thanks again for all your good work, Judy
And please include me in your electronic ventures
