The following obituary notice for Austin Edgerton was published in the Grindstone City Advertiser on October 8, 1874:

 

“DIED.  Edgerton. - In Bloomingdale, Van Buren Co., Mich., Oct. 5th, 1874 Austin Edgerton, formerly of Columbia, Lorain Co., O., aged 73 years.”

 

At the time of the 1880 Federal Census, Mrs. Mary Edgerton was recorded in the household of her son-in-law, Andrew Coy, in Gobleville, Van Buren County, Michigan (pg. 372).  She was enumerated as “Mary B. Edgerton, mother-in-law, widow, aged 69, born in New Hampshire (both parents born in Massachusetts)”.
