Alonzo Edgerton was born September 22, 1826 at West Granby, Connecticut, the son of Alonson and Asenath (Case) Edgerton.  Ruth Cost Duncan’s John Case and his Descendants (West Simsbury, Connecticut; 1991; pg. 65) lists a birthdate of September 22, 1827; however, both Alonzo’s death record (Granby VR 3:524) and his gravestone at Granby Street Cemetery confirm that the correct year was 1826.

Alonzo Edgerton resided in West Granby his entire life.  He was a farmer.  Upon the death of his father in 1851, he inherited a portion of the home farm, upon which he lived for the remainder of his life.  His mother, Asenath, resided there with him until her death in 1873.

(King) Roberts.  Katharine (“Kate”) was a widow and had had at least two children by her first marriage – a son, Henry, and a daughter, Jennie.  Katharine had probably come to live with the Alonzo after the death of his mother in January 1873.  Alonzo and Katharine had three children:  an infant son, born October 20, 1873, who died the next day; Lloyd Lee, born April 5, 1876; and George A., born September 8, 1880.
