According to the above census record, Victoria was the mother of six children, five of whom were still living.  Vivia’s occupation was listed as “teacher”.  [The age and birthyear for the youngest son, Alonson Gifford Jr., were recorded incorrectly in this census; he was born in September 1890.]

Alonson G. Edgerton applied for a Civil War Pension on August 28, 1882.  The invalid claim was filed from the state of Ohio, and cited Alanson’s service in the 10th Regiment, Minnesota Infantry (Co. B); and in the 67th Regiment, U.S.C. Infantry (Co. G.).  Victoria G. Edgerton, widow of Alonson G. Edgerton, later applied for a Civil War Pension on December 27, 1921.  The application was filed from the state of Oklahoma (see  National Archives Pension Applications; Application #457972, Certificate #298742; and Application #1182853, Certificate #911257).
