THIS INDENTURE Made on the thirty first day of August A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy Eight by and between John Fry and Ellen Fry of the Ste. Genevieve County parties of the First Part, and Alexander Edwards of the County of Ste. Genevieve in the State of Missouri party of the second part.
WITNESSETH, That the said parties of the first part, in consideration of the sum of Seventy Five Dollars, to them paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do by these presents, Grant, Bargain, and Sell, Convey and Confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, the following described lots, tracts or parcels of land, lying, being and situate in the County of Ste Genevieve and State of Missouri to wit:
All the North half of the North East quarter being a lot number two North East Section five in Township 36 North of Range 7 East suppose to be about 114 acres more or less.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD The premises aforesaid, with all and singular the rights, privileges, appurtenances and immunities thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining, unto the said party of the second part, and unto his heirs and assigns, FOREVER; the said John Fry and Ellen Fry his wife hereby convenanting that have lawfully seized of an indefeasible ESTATE IN FEE in the premises herein conveyed; that they have good right to convey the same; that the said premises are free and clear of any incumbrances done or suffered by them or those under whom they claim; and that John Fry & Ellen Fry his wife will WARRANT AND DEFEND the title to the said premises unto the said party of the Second Part, and unto his heirs and assigns, FOREVER, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons whomsoever.

STATE OF MISSOURI, COUNTY OF STE. GENEVIEVE
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this 31st Day of August A.D.1878 before the undersigned, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County of Ste. Genevieve and State of Missouri, personally came John Fry and Ellen Fry his wife who are personally known to me to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as parties thereto, and acknowledged the same to be thereafter and the for the purposes therein mentioned. And the said Ellen Fry his wife being by me first made acquainted with the contents of said instrument, upon an examination separate and of part from her husband, acknowledged that she executed and relinquishes her dower in the Real Estate therein mentioned, freely and without fear, compulsion or undue influence of her said husband.
