THE FREY'S/FRYS IN VIRGINIA 1810 AND BEFORE

This page is established to identify the Frey's/Fry's in Frederick, Shenandoah, and Culpeper Counties, VA in 1810 and before. The VA 1787, 1790 and 1810 census's are presented above. In a previous investigation I attempted to identify the children of Heinrich Frey. Heinrich migrated to PA ca 1680 and at least 3 of his 7 sons migrated to Frederick County,VA. (There was no Shenandoah County until 1792 when Frederick County was split to form Shenandoah County.) These 3 sons were Benjamin, Henry and George. Benjamin was born in 1696 while Henry was born in 1698 and George was born in 1705. So I believe several of the people in the Frederick,Shenandoah and Culpeper County census's are descendents of Heinrich. Just make your guess on how many by guessing the number of children by each son and assuming 30 years per generation. The Heinrich Frey investigation consisted of identifying and analyzing 10 URL's that addressed Heinrich. The Heinrich Frey investigation is complete, at least for the time being. The link for the results are posted on a link on the page you were before clicking to this page - just click your back arrow.

The purpose of this investigation is to identify the ancestors and descendants of those Frey'/Frys shown in the census's presented above Should anyone have census data other than what I have shown just pass it on and I'll add it to this page with the appropriate acknowledgment.Should anyone know where I can find internet access to the will's, deeds, marriage records et.al in the subject counties then let me know and I'll do the look-up and purchase, if necessary, and I'll add the data to this page. Go to the South Carolina link in usgenweb.com for how a county should present their data

I am particularly interested in a John Fry b 1778-80. The one in the Culpeper County 1810 census looks like he is a candidate.

As I said above, in the Heinrich Frey investigation I learned that some of Heinrich's children migrated to VA but I'm sure that some of the other German immigrants shown in the Strassburger Ships List (Pennsylvania German Pioneers) also migrated to VA prior to their westward movement. A link to Strassburgers Ships list to Phila is presented on the previous page.

The map of VA in 1770 shows Frederick and Loudon Counties (a Heinrich child migrated to Loudon County as well). It does not show Shenandoah County. Shenadoah county does appear in VA on the 1791 map. These maps can be obtained from a link on the usgenweb VA link.
