THIS PAGE IS ESTABLISHED PRIMARILY AS A SITE TO DETERMINE THE RELATIONSHIPS OF THE
FRY'S/FREY'S/FRYE'S IN SUMNER AND ROBERTSON COUNTIES, TN IN 1812 through 1850 AND TO ATTEMPT TO
IDENTIFY RELATIONSHIPS, IF ANY TO BARNET/BERNARD FRY/FREY, MY GGGRANDFATHER. I'll maintain this page in the future
as a reference source for other researchers and add other states when the need is indicated
SUMMARY
Regarding those listed in the 1812 tax list
4/5/03 - There are 5 Frey's identified in the 1812 Robertson County, TN tax list. They are Henry, John, Joseph Jacob, and Peter. From data received by me since establishing this page I've concluded most of the Frey's are probably descendents of the North Carolina German Moravian immigrants. This was suggested to me by Charles Burgess when I first had contact with him 4 years ago. These immigrants appear to have started in America in PA. Lancaster and York are 2 counties I have identified in PA. Some migrated to North Carolina and it is these where I have been able to collect the most data. However, I've included some Pennsylvania data because some of the Robertson County Frey'/Fry's probably have origins in PA. I should say here that most german immigrants first landed in PA (see the PA page for more information.)
Referring to the Frey's listed in the 1812 tax list:
Henry does not appear in the 1820 Robertson County census but does appear in the later census's in the correct age
range. I BELIEVE HE IS THE HENRY IDENTIFIED AS HENRY C. SON OF JOHANN MICHAEL FREY in VIRGINIA BEANS DATA
PRESENTED BELOW AND IN ELIZABETH HARRIS'S DATA ALSO PRESENTED HEREIN UNDER NORTH CAROLINA.
John, and Peter are shown in the 1820 census.
Joseph Frey b 1768, According to Elizabeth Harris, married to a HARDEMANN, is the son of Joseph Frey son of Johann Peter, son of Hans Peter et al. Elizabeth Harris states-see the link herein to her page) "This family moved to TN". The specific location in TN is not cited but the 1812 tax list shows a Joseph Frey and since Joseph is not a common given name for these Moravian Germans it seems reasonable that the 2 Josephs are one and the same. Joseph's family is shown in Elizabeth's page AS ITEM 13 found on her link below . Joseph is also shown in the 1820 census in an age range agreeing with Elizabeth's.
Jacob correlates with the Jacob along with his son Adam H. shown as follows (see the link to Virginia's and Elizabeth's
data):
Jacob Frey b. 0 ___ 1774, NC, m. Mary Johnson, b. 0 ___ 1784, d. AFT 1860. Jacob died 0 ___ 1848, Robertson Co TN.

A DISCUSSION OF THE 1820 THROUGH 1850 CENSUS'S
4/5/03
For 1820 - Bartlett has been identified as migrating to Texas and dying there - see comments for an email giving more detail. His parentage has not been identified. John is not identified but appears to be the same John that appears in the 1830 and 1840 census's. Joseph is identified above. Peter and Peter Sr. are not identified but either could be the Peter in the 1850 census. Robert is not identified and does not appear in the later census's. Jacob is identified above.
For 1830 - The John Frey appears to be the same as the John in 1840 and is not identified. He does not appear in the 1850 census of TN but a John does appear in the Mo. 1850 census. Henry appears to be the same as the older Henry in 1840 and 1850 census and is identified. A John N Frey is identified as the son of Jacob Frey, son of Johann Valentin, et al. The Peter's are not identified but one of the 2 in the 30 to 40 age range appears to be the Peter age 57 in 1850. None of the Peter's are identified. A Jacob does not appear in this census even though the Jacob in 1820 appears to fit the Jacob shown in 1840, PERHAPS HE HAS PASSED AWAY.
For 1840 - The Henry appears to be the Henry S. in 1850. Jacob is not shown at all and remains unidentified, but a Jacob does appear in the 1850 Mo. census. John has not been identified, but a John appears in the 1850 Mo. census. Peter, age 15 to 20 in the household of a female age 50 to 60 has not been identified. Peter age 40 to 50 appears to be the Peter age 57 in 1850. Val in 1840 appears to be the Volantine in1850 and is not identified.

A special thanks is given here to Virginia Bean for her contribution of the Moravian Frey link below. Her
input has identified over half of the 1850 Robertson County Frey's.
