Hello Ed,
My great-grandfather was Bartlett Frey in the 1820 census

He appeared in San Augustine, Texas in 1836 in the Republic

did not take it all in one area.
He married Delila Meek (Daughter of Jacob & Mary ----- Meek)
in 1823 in Tennessee. They are mentioned in her father's
will of 1824 in Henry County, TN. This is some info i got off
this person's web site:

Houston Texas Death Notices 1843:
Homicide or Murder--An elderly gentleman named Bartlet FRY, who resided
on the Attoyae, was killed in San Augustine county on the 29th ult., by
Mr. John GARNER. We have not learned the particulars of his melancholy
occurence. 7/13/1843:2
I don't know Bartlett's parents names. I think there
was a first name (which was his father, uncle or grandparents)
before the Bartlett.
I am stumped about his parents also.
There is a web site for ordering the book the first families of
Tennessee. I don't know if the Fry's are in it or not.
http://www.east-tennessee-history.org/fft.htm
These are other good site.

Don't attribute any of this to me because I have found it on
the internet from other people.
Check with these people whose sites list the
Bartlett Fry (Frey) from North Carolina about their information.
I just wanted to fill you in on the Bartlett Fry mentioned in
the Robertson County, TN Census list of 1820, so you
would have him accounted for.

Joyce, Martin Frey's first wife was named Thursa, and my records show that one of their children born 1852 had the initials A.
B. That's all the information I have. Did Anna Belle and James Carroll Gower live in Robertson Co? You might find part of your
answer by getting your hands on the ROBERTSON CO CEMETERY RECORDS? My e-mail is evieling@aol.com I'll do
some checking and see if I can verify this for you. Please message me. Evie

Yes, Anna Belle and James Carroll Gower lived in Robertson County. All my father knew about Martin and Thursa were their
names, which now I see were not spelled right. And I only knew about one child, Anna Belle,my greatgreatgrandmother. How
do you fit into this family?

Joyce, this is one of those times that has become so exciting about family history research! We are cousins! Martin Frey and
Thursa Crockett had 5 children. I am descended from their eldest, Henry Wilson Frey. I can give you HUGE lineages on both
the Freys and the Crocketts if you will e-mail me at evieling@aol.com Thursa's grandfather Samuel was one of the early settlers
in Springfield, TN

My wife's family - Fry (originally Frey) came from Europe to the Pennsylvania Colony (the first one arriving before old Bill Penn
himself)! Thence they went to Pulaski Co. TN in the mid to late 1800s. It was there they changed the spelling to Fry. The old
homestead is still there atop Fry Mountain and her cousin has visited there.
Her g-father, Rufus Martin Fry was born in TN and moved to Texas just before her father, Roy William Fry was born
(c.1901-3 - depending upon which family bible you use)!
Will be glad to exchange info I have (if I can find it on the laptop again) so we can see if there is any connection.
Good Luck, God Bless

Do you have any of the maternal lines extended further back?
Johannes Peter Frey who married Anna Barbara Schmidt had a daughter Anna Barbara Frey who married on 9 June 1741 to
John Michael Lower, born in Jan 1715. He was baptized on 17 Jan 1715 Hirstein, Saarland, Germany. He married Anna
Barbara Frey at Moden Creek (now Muddy Creek), Cocalico township, Lancaster, PA.; buried in Moravian Church
Cemetery, Heidelberg township, Berks County, PA. He died on 15 Apr 1789 Berks County, PA at age 74. I don't have any
dates for Anna Barbara Frey.
John Michael Lower was also known as Hans Lauer. He sailed from Rotterdam with his parents aboard the ship "Samuel,"
Hugh Percy, Master. He immigrated on 30 Aug 1737 to Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. He lived in Tulpehocken township,
Berks County, PA. He was naturalized on 24 Sep 1761 Heidelberg township, Berks, PA. He was a veteran of the
Revolutionary War. He lived in 1785 in Heidelberg township, Berks County, PA.

I also descend from Johann Valentine Frey, through his daughter Anna Maria Barbara Frey, sometimes listed as Anna Maria,
sometimes as Anna Barbara, and sometimes as Anna Maria Barbara Elizabeth (!), who married John Tuttle, rev. war veteran.
It seems to have been the practice to occasionally have more than two given names, especially for women, in certain Moravian
or Lutheran-connected families from Pfalz, now known as Alsace-Lorraine, France. At least, that is what I come across from
the late 1700's and earlier generations, in Frey as well as Schauss (Shouse), Binkele (Binkley), Baum and others.
For what it's worth, I've always considered Anna Maria Barbara Frey to be the correct full maiden name of my
ggggg-grandmother, as it occurs most frequently in records.
Hope this helps,
Michael

Co. and Chester Co. and a descendant of Peter lives about 15 miles from me. He spells his name Fry and has a large nursery
just outside of Ephrata PA He has done research but not recently. He depended on someone else to do it and that person tried
to connect Hans Martin with my ancestor Heinrich Frey of Germantown (1684). I had him connected with one of my line but it
subsequently was proved incorrect. If you wish, I can contact Martin Fry and see if he would be intwerested in contacting you.
My e-mail is jeffrey2@ptd.net
I don't know if he has internet connections, if so I can connect you.
