The following is a true copy of the legal document drawn up to verify that Anna Wagner was the legal ward of Simon and Genovefa Meier:
Franz Wagner, property owner at Wettern No. 28, party of the 1st part, and the persons Simon and Genovefa Maier of Wettern, party of the 2nd :-
I
The persons Simon and Genovefa Maier have the intention to emigrate to the United States of North America and take with them Anna Wagner, the 12-year-old daughter of Franz Wagner, to which the latter has agreed.
II
Simon and Genovefa Maier are obliged to pay for Anna Wagner's passage from their own funds and to defray expenses for her education and support, like her own parents, without any recourse claim on the father Franz Wagner, they shall care for her as long as she is in no position to care for herself, or until she marries.
III
Franz Wagner accepts this proposal and is therby obliged to give the persons Simon and Genovefa Maier a free hand regarding the minor Anna Wagner, who will get on account of his house at No. 28 in Wettern the associated inheritance of 150 fl (one hundred fifty gulden), and further in time her paternal inheritance figured at the amount of 150 fl (one hundred fifty gulden), together thereby 300 fl (three hundred gulden) without interest, at the latest by December 31.

The persons Simon and Genovefa Maier are herewith agreed, declare themselves fully satisfied with the amount of 300 fl as defraying the expenses for the duties they are undertaking------ the conditions set forth ------- 1883 with ------- motherly ------- von 150 fl claim ---

Both parties confirm the legal effects of their agreement, and especially are to be instructed, the same ---- shall have no adverse influence on Anna Wagner. Confirmed by the composer of this document and the signatures of witnesses.

Evie Parker Meyer was a widow with a young son when she married John Meyer. Her first husband was James Smith Sherry he died Feb 4, 1917 they had one child Claude Willard Sherry Claude Jr. was nick named Buck, he was born Oct 29, 1916 and died 14, Feb 1995. He married Sophia Derrick and they had two children Claude D. Sherry (Butch) Dec 29, 1946 and Cornelia Marie June 11, 1950. Butch Married Judy Gertner in 1970 they have two daughters Lisa and Rebecca. Cornelia Marie married Eugene Pohler and they have two children Yvonne Pohler and Jason Pohler.
