                            was the third offspring of walter haggerty
                            and elsie {Buyher}.they had four kids 
                            [in order of age]joy,jarl,judson,and jay. 
                            jay sr. is the only one still alive."

                            "my grandfather walter was a tool and die 
                            maker at allisons in indianapolis ind. 
                            and worked on the very first jet engines. 
                            grandma danced around the house playing 
                            the harmonica. she had a grand piano and 
                            all the kids played and took lessons in 
                            various instruments including violin, 
                            piano,guitar. jarl, when grown, was known
                            as a good dancer and a skilled and rowdy 
                            player of honky tonk and ragtime piano player. 
                            breakfast was at 6."

                            "my dad judson played beathoven on the piano as
                            well as standard tunes by ear. he also picked 
                            guitar a little and  played harmonica well.he 
                            was a well known trial lawyer and civil rights 
                            attorney in indianapolis and served in the 
                            indiana legislature when i was very young. he 
                            was among those first democrats to physically 
                            cross the color barrier in the fifties and that
                            later formed the coalition that elected john
                            kennedy."

                            darren.i teach circus arts and play guitar and 
                            write songs and stories in bloomington indiana. 
                            i have been a trapeze artist for ringling bros.
                            enough for now. i met another bunch of haggertys 
                            in tucson.[mike] and saw one black haggerty 
                            basketball player on tv when i was touring in 
                            texas."
