Once owned a country store w/husband Herbert Dibblee which was on the road to Woodstock NB near the Canada border;.... "was the best in school" according to her sister Mildred;.... resided in Houlton ME all of her life.... In the 1930 National Census, the family was living on Willard St, Houlton at $30/month rent w/o a radio; Herbert, of Canadien birth & possible "Loyalist" lineage was an automobile salesman who came to ME in 1915 but was not then a USA citizen, in his automobile work, he had to take horses & mules "in-trade" for new automobiles; Elsie was a saleslady in a department store; their children, Arthur & Ruth Dibblee attended school; also living at home were Elsie's children with, now deceased, John Lee: Earl C Lee, a laborer, his wife, Blondie & their son, Earl J Lee

SSN 007-12-5638; at one time had an automobile agency which accepted horses in trade for new automobiles; not well liked by & often accused by his sisters-in-law of wife beating; last years were spent living with daughter Ruth in NYC; he died when on a trip to his childhood home in NB Canada, where he was interred, his kids did not attend his funeral; 2 Kids:

Arthur.... d: 14 January 1997.... served in the USArmy 31 March 1941 to 23 October 1945.... resided in FL.... cremated in New Port Ritchie, FL, his stepdaughter made the arrangements.... had 4 wives.... no known kids

Ruth.... b: 5 March 1922.... m: Randy Cogan, dissolved in Mexico; m: to two others, one was named Andy.... d: June 1971, cremated.... interred Gate of Heaven RCCem White Plains NY.... Evelyn Costello, Muriel Seibert (1st lady of the NYSE & State of NY financial official) & Majorie Gann attended.... she worked for Mr Merkle at the Madison Fund.... great antique collector....had one blue eye pupil & one brown one.... last husband was suspected of "pushing pills into her", according to her Aunt Mildred, (who knows?).... no kids.... Early on, after suffering an unrequited love affair (a Mr Henderson), entered the convent; mother Louisa tried to prevent it; stayed 3 years, exited prior to final vows; in the convent she had cut off all of her hair, mother Louisa tried to keep her out of sight til the hair re-grew .... entered Ricker Col, finished 2nd in her class .... after col, taught school for a year+, not her bag ....exec secretary in Houlton (at Watsons Hdwe where l'affair w/Mr Hassell occurred), Boston & NYC.... once owned a Studebaker automobile roadster, known as "Studie".... "nicknamed" thru the years as "Dollie" or "Ag".... enjoyed making home brew, some of which was non-volatile, her pal Mame Conlogue assisted.... not married ....in the 1930 national census, she is noted as living as a boarder on Court St, Houlton ME with a Ms Bessie Nevers .... resided Maple St Houlton ME, Boston MA, NYC.... helped bring up the Costello kids; got nephew Richard interested in airlines work & nephew Edward interested in acctg/finance....

d: 4 December 1950.... NYC.... age 58 years.... stroke.... waked at the Ridge Rd farm, Littleton ME, on a very cold & windy December day; (nephew Ed "bunked in" at the "Ridge" during the wake, required to use the "attached" privy, the cold frozen wind almost blew the privy & him away; did'nt understand how the ancients survived, let alone multiply in that climate) ....interred St Mary's RCCem, Houlton ME.... gravestone in place |PIX: Obit|....|PIX: Gravesite|

In the 1920 National Census, he's listed as a "farmer" & "head-of household" at the Littleton Ridge farm, living w/siblings; in the 1930 National Census, he's a farmer with a w/o a radio set living on rented property located on the County Rd in New Limerick ME, with wife Marguerite & dau's Dolores & Marie.... once worked at the Houlton Grange.... Houlton ME town policeman.... carpenter.... quit school in the 6th grade to work the farm at Littleton Ridge.... quit farming at 29 years of age after being kicked by a horse.... "never drank or smoked".... "worry wart".... when visiting sister Mildred in NYC, he attended daily Mass at St Patricks and visited Radio City Music Hall.... resided Littleton Ridge, New Limerick, Houlton ME, Manchester CT....
