In the
original picture, George and Myrtle look to be the ages they were when they married
on 18 January 1906 in Sacramento. However, the painted backdrop to the picture
features a coastal scene showing Cliff House, a San Francisco landmark, suggesting
that the photo was taken in San Francisco, where
George and Myrtle spent their honeymoon.
On 18 January 1906, George Francis Wilson, son of Isaac Newton Wilson and
Elizabeth (Manning) Manning,
married Mary Myrtle Butler,
daughter of John Edward Butler and
Electa Louisa DeWolf. They
had nine children, seven of whom survived to adulthood. Alive today
are two of their children, all 19 grandchildren, all 37 great-grandchildren, 42
(of 43) great-great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-great-grandchildren (so far).
100 years later, all of these descendants and all cousins—whether full, half, step,
or "shirttail"
relations—are invited to save the date of the reunion, 24 June 2006 (with
additional events on the days before and after).
