Born on 10 August, 1947 to Albert B. BRATT and F. Maureen STRONG , I was raised and went to school in Canton, Ohio.
After graduation from high school, I started work in 1965 for what was then Ohio Bell Telephone, now
part of Ameritech, doing installation work. Being the time of the Viet Nam conflict, I worked a year
and then having a low draft number, I joined the Air Force. After attending 10 months of electronics
training, I was posted to Asaka, Japan, just outside of Tokyo. My tour in Japan lasted just a little over
2 years and then I was reassigned to Okinawa, where I also was active in the scouting movement.
Returning from overseas, I was posted to North Carolina until my discharge in September 1970.

Returning to Ohio and going back to work for the Ohio Bell until due to the anti trust agreement with the justice
department AT&T had to divest all the local companies, I was transfered to AT&T. I performed a variety of functions
until when in 1984 I accepted a move to Chicago and and a promotion to management. During the years
1984 -1990 I was with AT&T's Computer Systems doing custom customer programming, customer education and
technical support. From 1990 until April of 1992, I was a member of a Network Systems sale team as a
Technical Consultant III supporting the DataKit and Paradyne product lines to the independent telephone
companies in North America. In 1992 I once again moved, to Pittsburgh, to supervise the
International Trunk Operations Center, one of AT&T's gateways to the world . In late 1993 I spent 4 months
on temperary assignment in London as part of a business planning team, and returned a second time in
Nov 1994 to help set up AT&T Communications U.K. Ltd. and remained in the United Kingdom until
June of 1996. After spending a few short months at home, I was assigned in September of 1996 to assist in
the implementation of the Alestra joint venture in Monterrey Mexico. Spending what is normally the cool
to cold part of the year in Mexico was not all that unpleasent. Returning from Mexico in May of 1997,
I joined the Global Program Management organization in Bedminster, N.J.
In June of 1998 under an incentive program, I left AT&T after 33 years.

Fortunately, being single and enjoying both traveling and photography, I did not mind the business travel
so much. I try to view it as a vacation where you have to work 5 days a week.
