Emily Crenshaw relates stories told by her sister, Anita Bolinger: "Barbara Froneberger's (wife of Micheal Kiser) Father was Sheriff of Gaston Co., N.C. who resigned his post and fought in the war along with her [Barbara's] brothers (I suppose were his sons) Adam [D. Alberry] and Caswell Froneberger, both of whom were killed. This tells why we had no Froneberger kin."11
