William Pace, born in 1724 in Middlesex Co VA, was a son of John Pace and Elizabeth Montague.. Elizabeth was born in 1699 in Essex Co VA, daughter of William Montague and Lettice Weeks. William Montague was born in Middlesex Co VA in 1670 and died there 7 December 1713. His parents were Peter Montague Jr and Mary Doodes. Peter Jr was born at Nansemond, Suffolk Co VA, son of the immigrant Peter Montague and his wife Cicely Matthews. Immigrant Peter was born 21 January 1603 at Buckingham shire, England, and came to the Virginia Colony when he was a young man, and died at Lancaster, VA on 25 May 1659.

      William Pace who was born in 1724, married Susanna West in 1748 in Pittsylvania Co VA. Susanna was born in 1726 at Celler Creek, VA, daughter of John West. She died in 1820 in Amelia Co VA, and William died in 1784 in Middlesex Co VA. They had nine children; some of the grandchildren carried the West and Montague names-

b.   John Pace, b 18 May 1751 in Henry Co VA. He married Elizabeth Nunn in Henry Co VA in 1772 and had twelve children, all born in Henry Co.

c.    Newsome Pace, b 1754 in Amelia Co VA. He married Mary Ann Ninn York Co VA in 1790 and had one son born in Henry Co.

d.   William Pace, b 1756 in Henry Co VA. He married Susannah Haymes in 1784 in VA and they had a son born in VA.

e.   Langstrom Pace, b 1758 in Henry Co VA. He married Milly Nunn in 1782.

f.    Susanna Pace, b 1760 in Amelia Co VA. She married John Thornton in 1777.

g.   Joel Pace, b 1762 in Pittsylvania Co VA, married Mary East [E1a], moved to KY then to Jefferson Co IL, and died there..

h.   Leisure Letitia Pace, b 1764 in Pittsylvania Co VA. She married a Mr Shelton.

i.     Spencer Pace, b 1770 in Pittsylvania Co VA. He married Mary Haymes in Pittsylvania Co VA in 1785 and they had eleven children, all born in Pittsylvania Co-

      1.   Mary Pace, b 1787, died in Marshall Co KY; She married John Cope in 1812 and married David Cope in 1919 in Muhlenberg Co KY. With David she had four children who were born in Christian Co KY.

      2.   Lettice B Pace, b 1790, died in 1861 in Marshall Co KY. She married Jesse Starks in 1807 in Christian Co KY and they had six children born in Christian Co.

      3.   Joel Pace, b 1791, died in 1839 in Marshall Co KY. He married Sally Cope in Muhlenberg Co KY in 1814. They had two children.

      4.   William Pace, b 1791, died in 1847 in Marshall Co KY. He married Jane Powell in 1821 and they had seven children, all born in KY.

      5.   Daniel Pace, b 1792, died in Marshall Co KY in 1885. He married Letticia Hurt in 1817 in Christian Co KY and they had about a dozen children, all born in Todd and Calloway counties KY.

      6.   Langston Pace, b 1798, married Zilpha Cornwall in Todd Co KY in 1820 and they had eight children born in KY.

      7.   Jellica Angelica Pace, b 1804, died in 1822. She married David Cope in Christian Co KY in 1819 and they had three sons born in Christian Co.

      8.   John Thomas Pace, b 1805, died in 1888 in Marshall Co KY. He married Louisa B Shelton in Todd Co in 1825 and they had twelve children. After she died in 1866 in Marshall Co, he married Martha Ann Strode in Marshall Co in 1867. They had no children.

      9.   Millie T Pace, b 1805, died in 1880 in Marshall Co KY. She married David Cope in Todd Co in 1823 and they had eight children born in Calloway Co and in Graves Co KY.

      10. Polly Pace, b 1807, died in 1822. She married John Cope in 1812 in Christian Co.
